Two Eyed Perry (AQHA)
out of Sonny’s Jane Domino, Two
Eyed Jackson was bred by Jim and Maureen Bridges, after they bought
his dam from the Sheldak Ranch in the
USA
. Cliff and Doreen Hooker first saw Two
Eyed Jackson in 1980, competing in the North Central Appaloosa
Club’s Weanling Futurity in
Prince George
, B.C. He not only won this futurity, but came back the following year to
win the yearling futurity. The Hookers then purchased him as a stallion
prospect. In his two year old year, they bred him to Doreen’s old
performance mare, Diamond M. Molly,
as well as to a friend’s mare, Holly’s
Icecap (by Silver Holly).
Both mares produced coloured stud colts the following spring. Molly’s
colt was named Jackson Brown,
who went on to a versatile show career, and was one of the first
Appaloosas to win his OMB (Outstanding Member of the Breed Award) with the
ApHCC. The other colt was Stonewall
Jackson, and after a brief showing career at halter, was sold on to
become a roping horse. The Canadian National Appaloosa Show was to be held
in Cloverdale, B.C in 1983, and the recently saddle-broke Two
Eyed Jackson was entered, placing in halter and
Junior Trail Horse. After this promising start, he was campaigned
for several years at Regional shows in halter and performance, and was
undefeated at halter, earning the Grand Champion Stallion title at every
show. Under saddle, he won numerous high-point and Regional Club Year-end
titles, earned his Superior Halter and OMB award, and qualified for the
World Show. He retired from the show ring at the 1985 Canadian National
Appaloosa Show in
Edmonton
.
That
same year, stallion owners in northern B.C formed The B.C Breeders Group
to offer futurities for Quarter Horses, Appaloosas and Paints. In
following years, offspring of Two
Eyed Jackson won many futurities, including the 1988 Snaffle Bit
Futurity (Michael Jackson), with
Count Two Ten
, Sheza Hijacker, Jezebel Jackson,
and Terminator Two winning
large halter futurities. In 1993, Two
Eyed Jackson won the James Wyatt Memorial “Get of Sire” trophy at
the Canadian National Appaloosa Show in
Lethbridge
, with Terminator Two, Amanda Jackson, and
Jacksonville
representing him. Two years
later, Two Eyed Jackson was
awarded the ApHCC Supreme Sire title, when six of his offspring had won
Outstanding Member of the Breed awards. These were the full brothers (out
of Goers Nancy) Jacksonville, Hit the Jackpot and Terminator Two, along with Jackson
Brown, Peter Jackson, and Shoelessjojackson.
The evergreen Peter Jackson, purchased
by Eva Van Beeten in 1987, is still showing at the National level some 17
years later. Two Eyed Jackson moved to
Alberta
with the Hookers in 1996, where he continues to stand at stud.
He was a founding sire of the Canadian Appaloosa Incentive Fund in
1995, and has been nominated every year since.
